Like this:
<user name="annathepiper">
You can also get clever by specifying site if you want to mention a user elsewhere, like on LJ:
<user name="annathepiper" site="livejournal.com">
So these would get you
annathepiper
and
annathepiper
respectively.

There's a FAQ for LJ users
here
that should cover the differences in HTML use.

There's also a handy section at the bottom of each Dreamwidth profile to copy the code to link to DW users, on-site or off-site.

You're welcome. :D
I get a little thrill every time I see it there, because I was the one to file the request for that feature.

Thank you. I wondered if it was [dw user=whatever] the way LJ is [lj user=whatever] (substituting the arrow brackets, of course), but that didn't seem to work.

You're welcome! I think they may have chosen to generalize it to "user" so that they could specify the "site" argument.

That's actually rather sensible!

You might find yourself saying that often.
