Where were you when...

1. When John F. Kennedy was shot? (11/22/1963)

In a stroller on the way to the park, according to my mother.

2. When Mt. St. Helens blew? (5/18/1980)

Working as a newspaper proofreader (the ads, not the articles).

3. When the space shuttle Challenger exploded? (1/28/1986)

On my way to work at Eugene Public Library with the news station on the radio on.

4. When the 7.1 earthquake hit San Francisco? (10/7/1989)

With the ex-spouse, who was watching the World Series (I was doing needlework, and looked up at the TV only when he said something).

5. When the Berlin Wall fell? (11/7/1989)

Logan, Ohio, by the date, but I don't remember exactly.

5.5. When the Gulf War ACTUALLY began? (August 1990, not in original meme)

Creating ads for one of those little all-advertising papers that everyone throws away.

6. When the Gulf War began? (1/16/1991)

In my "Intro to Library Science" class, when someone strode in and said, "Omigosh, we're bombing Iraq!" Which kind of trashed the rest of *that* class session...

7. When OJ Simpson was chased in his White Bronco? (6/17/1994)

On my way home from work at the Tacoma Public Library. Turned on the TV as soon as I got home. OJ was still cruising at that stage.

8. When the building in Oklahoma City was bombed? (4/19/1995)

There's something in my subconscious that *insists* that happened in 1993, and that I was in California on a job interview. Anyway...

9. When Princess Di was killed (8/31/1997)

Watching a live production of Much Ado About Nothing set in a 1940s USO canteen.

10. When Bush was first announced President (11/7/2000)

Wonder who wrote this meme originally?

Me, too. I just remember spending the next few months totally disgusted.

I was unemployed (by choice) just outside Tacoma, WA, on that date.

11. When the 6.8 earthquake hit Nisqually, WA (2/28/2001)

Hee. I was in my car about ten miles from the epicenter, and didn't feel a darned thing. Didn't know anything had *happened* till my niece called to find out if I was okay.

12. When terrorists knocked over the World Trade Center (9/11/2001)

About to go hike the Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park. A bunch of school kids ran by, yelling "they've bombed New York!" and my reaction was "what movie did you guys watch last night?" Didn't find out it was for real till I got back that night.

I watched the coverage from the Ahwahnee Hotel bar.

13. When OIF began (take your pick- the presidential announcement of the expiration of the 48-hour ultimatum was at 10:15 PM EST on 3/19/03, the ground war commenced at 8 PM EST on 3/20/03).

I don't remember.
