Especially compared to last year where only one movie (PotC II) coaxed me into the theater all summer. This year, so far, I've been four times, Spiderman III, Shrek III, PotC III -- it's apparently a year for thirds [g] -- and today, Ratatouille. Only one has been a relative dud, and that was Shrek III (I'm going to pretend the series ended after the second movie). And we haven't even gotten to HP5 yet...

Ratatouille was both adorably cute and hysterically funny. The sight gags alone were worth the price of admission, but the voices were great, the animation -- well, every time I think Pixar can't outdo themselves next time, they do it, anyway -- and, wow, the story didn't even slap you upside the head with the moral. Or at least it didn't me. I mean, buddy movies are supposed to have a point where the two have a fight and stomp off, and then realize in the middle of the final crisis that they need each other and help each other out after all. It wouldn't be a buddy movie otherwise. So that doesn't count, the same way it's not a romance without an HEA (happily ever after). Anyway, it was a very enjoyable popcorn movie.

And it made my inner six-year-old very happy [g].
