The one about not feeling like a "real" grown-up? (if you don't know which one I'm talking about, see http://mmegaera.livejournal.com/46971.html).

Memes travel LJ at the speed of light, and there are about as many of them around and about as there are stars in the sky. But I've never seen people actually post in their own LJs attacking a meme before. Have I just missed past instances or is this something new?

Because that meme? It seems to be polarizing people. And the people who are posting negatively about it don't seem to realize that they're emphasizing the point of the meme in the first place. And I for one am getting rather hurt by people dissing the first meme I've seen that actually says how I feel a great deal of the time.

No, the meme isn't adolescent angst (I'm 48 and long past adolescence, thank gods). No, it's not straight guilt which of course we shouldn't feel (right). No, it's not something people grow out of, necessarily (if you did, hoorah, but that kind of statement strikes me as denial in the worst way).

It's just a statement of being human, and sometimes it's nice to know that you're not the only one who feels that way sometimes, especially at times when it seems like everyone is competent but you.

So lay off the bashing, eh?
