and on a completely different note

All of a sudden I'm getting pornographic emails -- some of them attempting to fake being from some of my mailing lists, and some just showing up on their own recognizance. At least half a dozen in the last three days.

This wouldn't be such a big deal, except they've got pictures, which has never happened before, at least not to me.

It's disgusting. How do I get my ISP's supposedly super-fantastic spam filter (which has always blocked this sort of nasty stuff before) to do its bloody job?!?!

All I can say is, ask the bloody ISP. Good luck.

Can you set your defaults to "don't show images"? When I get mail with images, Gmail has a link-clicks to
* show images
* always show images from this sender

THAT you should definitely report to your ISP. And, if you can, save some of those circumventing messages so they can examine them. Maybe forward them to the ISP's webmaster address, or whatever, with an explanation on the first and a quick back-reference on subsequent ones; then delete from your inbox.
