being a mean cat mom
Aug. 16th, 2012 10:04 amWell, the boys are off to get neutered today. I had to withhold food and water starting at eight last night. I prepared both carriers last night, but when I put them down in the laundry room this morning, they both climbed into the same one (neither one of them associates the carrier with trauma -- yet), and they're still small enough that two of them don't overcrowd it, so they rode off together.
They were silent in the car, which was very odd. Linnet in particular was extremely vocal in the car -- "Oouutt, oouutt" in a very deep voice over and over.
And they both took the thermometer in the butt like the little gentlemen they are [wry g].
Turns out some of the wrestling that's been going on has been a bit rougher than I thought -- the vet showed me some tiny healing scabs in one of Teddy's ears and said they were from bites. Otherwise they're in good health.
I get to pick them up sometime between 2 and 4:30.
The house is way too quiet.
I hate being a mean cat mom, although I know in the long run I'm being a very good one.

Date: 2012-08-17 04:33 pm (UTC)I came home with a list of instructions on aftercare. The first one was not to feed them for a few hours because they might throw up from anesthesia nausea. Right. When I finally did feed them a little bit last night they were absolutely ravenous, did not throw up, and between the two of them over the course of the evening, polished off an entire can of food in tiny servings every hour or so.
This morning everything was fine, and they split another can of food (a normal meal) between them, plus they're eating the dry stuff.
No redness, no anything, and all is good in our world once more.
