Potential TMI.
Okay, I have no idea what caused the gas-like (but I don't think it was gas) discomfort in my mid-to-lower abdomen last night, but it also caused me to run a fever (100.7) in the middle of the night -- at first I thought it was a hot flash, but it went on, and on...
I finally got up about 5 am and took a couple of ibuprofen, fell asleep about 6, then slept till 10 [wry g], and the fever is gone this morning, but I'm still feeling kind of blah. I don't know if it's because my sleep cycle was thrown off or what. Still kind of uncomfortable in the abdomen, too, but not nearly as bad as last night, and I've got a weird metallic taste in my mouth.
No, it's not bad enough to go to the emergency room for. If it's still bothering me by Monday I may go to the after hours care at my HMO. We'll see.
Oh, and this weekend was Elli's turn to get dehydrated and drag her butt across the floor. She, unlike her sister, will eat canned food, so I bought her some and she scarfed it right down. I also bought a couple more water dishes to scatter around the house since apparently Elena has claimed the one upstairs for her exclusive use. Elli's been seen drinking at at least one of them in the last hour, so I think things are going to be okay, but still. Sheesh.

Date: 2012-02-21 06:01 pm (UTC)I don't have a gall bladder, as the result of a very bad (the ER folks thought it was a heart attack at first) gall bladder attack four years ago, so I know what that feels like, and in comparison this was a small wave to a tsunami.
Again, sorry to have worried you!

Date: 2012-02-21 07:34 pm (UTC)At first I also thought my pain was psychosomatic, as it started on (iirc) my first birthday after my mother's death. Pain about where the womb would be if I were a woman... But after I spent much of the night slowly writhing on the floor, Rene drove me to the ER. That was about 12 years ago, so I must've come thru OK.

Date: 2012-02-21 09:00 pm (UTC)Yeah, I had the attack on the night of my 48th birthday, which happened to fall on Easter Sunday. I live alone, so I called the nurse hotline at my HMO and told her what was happening. She said, hang up the phone and call 911. I said, no, no, I don't want to do that, and it took her about fifteen minutes to convince me that it was an appropriate thing to do [g], by which time I was in enough pain that I didn't feel like I had a choice. So I did, and had my very first ambulance ride that night. By the time I got to the hospital the attack was all but over and they sent me home (a friend was available to fetch me, fortunately), but a number of tests over the next few days determined that a) I have a very healthy heart, and b) it was my gall bladder. I had it out shortly thereafter.
