the Weather Channel was right [g]
Jan. 18th, 2012 10:11 amAnd here's the proof:

Out my front door.

And out the back.
I stuck one of my quilting rulers in through what's piled up on top of the little square bench out back, and it came out about six inches so far. But it is still snowing, and probably will be off and on most of the day.
The tracks out front are from my next-door neighbor, who works for the power company and is most in demand in this kind of weather. But he has four-wheel-drive. And he was chaining up when I looked out my window this morning.
What snow we had on the ground yesterday morning mostly melted yesterday afternoon, and froze solid before the snow started falling on it this go round. So we've got our usual ice layer underneath all the fluffy stuff.
There is no traction out there, even on foot. The news was mostly traffic reports on crashes, and stories about people abandoning their cars in the middle of the freeway in classic western Washington style.
When I lived in Colorado and the Midwest, snow was no big deal to me. Here? It's as much as your life is worth to get out there.
Nope, I'm not going anywhere today...
