mmegaera: (garden)
[personal profile] mmegaera
Not too much going on in my garden this late in the season, esp. since I've already started whacking some perennials (the ones that have finished blooming) back, and yanking some annuals (ditto). But I still have some pretty things going in my garden:

monkshood.jpg
Monkshood, which always makes me think of snapdragons on steroids (my monkshood is eight feet tall) only blue [g].

hollyhock.jpg
The only hollyhock that really did anything this year. It's the first one I've ever grown that hasn't been pink! I love this color. Unfortunately, hollyhocks act as annuals in my garden, so I have to grow new plants every year. I wish I could keep this one. It's also really tall, poking its head up above a six-foot fence.

aster.jpg
The stupid flash flashed when I took this picture, and the color is not true at all. It's a much bluer lavender than this. But I love asters. I have a white one, too, and I bought two more this year -- another bluey lavender, and one that's about the color that the photo came out.

I like trying to extend my blooming season on either end, and these are my favorites of the late bloomers.
