Yes, I did. I went back to Radio Shack this afternoon, and I am now the -- no, not proud [wry g] -- possessor of a cell phone. It's an LG320G, which is a "chocolate bar" phone (and yes, they showed me how to lock and unlock the buttons), uses Net10, and came with 300 minutes. It's supposed to text me when I need to add more minutes or the 60 days of no use comes up (if that happens).

It cost $30. The $20 phone from TracFone only came with 10 minutes, so Net10 was the better deal, which was the ultimate tie-breaker.

The very nice young saleslady figuratively held my hand for about fifteen minutes of basic lessons, and set up a few things like turning off the beep that otherwise would have sounded every time a button was hit accidentally, even with the keys locked. Now the only time it rings is if someone is calling or texting me, which is what I prefer.

Now all I have to do is put in what contacts I have, and choose a ringtone. I have the charger on the sofa table, which I hope will help me remember to start the habit of automatically plugging it in whenever I'm home, and taking it with me whenever I leave the house.

Oh, and apparently it can be used as a voice recorder. That might actually reconcile me to carrying it about. Maybe.

Now I need to print new business cards for the Heritage League meeting tomorrow...
