It appears that the reason I am no longer receiving email notifications may be because I have a free account (from back in the stone age when LJ was still giving out free accounts without advertising). I don't know if this is to coerce those of us who haven't given them money or permission to advertise into doing one or the other, but I must say if that's so they're going about it the wrong way [wry g]. If they want money from me or my permission to advertise on my LJ, they need to give me a positive incentive, not a negative one (or at least to warn me about incoming negative incentives and why they're happening -- a mass message would have done the trick). I have no objection to them needing to make money. What I object to is how they're going about it.

There's one way to prove this one way or the other, and that's to see if I get notifications on my sojourn_town account, which has advertising on it. I am going to post over there requesting comments, and we'll see what happens.

If I do get email notifications there, then I suspect LJ has finally pushed me out the door, and I will begin whatever complicated process it takes to transfer my journal over there, and will be asking lots of stupid questions requesting answers in words of one syllable.

And asking for everyone's DW usernames. And doing that thing that I find really really obnoxious when other people do it, and that's cross-posting here with the request that people only comment over there.

Sigh. It's the principle of the thing at this point.

ETA: I'm not getting comment notifications on sojourn_town, either. So it's not that it's a free account, and it's not my ISP. I don't know what else to do, and LJ is being no help whatsoever.

Anyway, I have friended everyone I could find over on DW. If you don't see that I've friended you there, and you have an account, please say something where I will see it. Like maybe friending me over there???

a question

This is the first time I've posted on DW in a very long time, and I have two questions:

1) How do I make my posts here cross-post to LJ? With that disclaimer I've seen on other people's posts at the bottom that says please comment on DW?

2) How do I make my posting and profile pages have the same style as my FL page? Right now, my FL page is a lovely emerald green, white, and black, and my profile and post entry pages are a really ugly pale yellow green.

Oh, and I managed to get rid of the celery green, but only by choosing among about five possibilities. Everything is now lavender on white. But I really would like my posting page and my profile page to match my FL page. Is that possible?

I've used LJarchive to save my LJ posts onto my hard drive. Is there a way to transfer all my LJ posts to DW? Or should I even bother?

Okay. There's no difference between a plus (free, with advertising) account and a basic (free, no advertising) account when it comes to the fact that as of Friday I am no longer getting email notifications, because I'm not getting them on sojourn_town, either.

So unless and until the email notification fail changes, if you want to comment on my posts, you need to do it on DW.

And if you have a DW account, I am mmegaera over there, too, feel free to friend me there, or send me an LJ message (as opposed to comment or post), or email me at mmegaera at nwlink.com.

I hope I don't lose too much of my FL in this disaster...

But I've had it, frankly. LJ doesn't work for me without email notifications.
