Don't ever try to put a thermometer up Elli's butt unless she's completely immobilized in a towel. We had our first vet visit today, and I have four scratches on my left arm, three scratches on my right hand, and four scratches on my chest to prove it. Elena just whined and took it like a lady. Elli -- well, let's just say she could have given Linnet lessons in how to initiate World War III. She went completely ballistic, then got away, ducked into the carrier, crawled into the back corner, and had to be poured out in order to finish the exam. Of course, I have to say that if someone stuck a thermometer up my butt I'd be pretty annoyed, too...

On the bright side, everybody's healthy except for a possible small case of worms (dewormer has been given) and being slightly skinny. Suggestions were given on how to tempt their little appetites (the problem isn't enough food, it's getting them to eat it). It is to be hoped that the dewormer will also have a positive effect in that direction.

I have learned more in the last hour about my new cats' personalities than I have in the entire last three days.

One more thing. Elena sat in my lap for almost an hour straight last night while I was watching TV. Just climbed right up on her own initiative, cuddled in, and purred. She chirps when she purrs. It melted me into a puddle.

Has anyone heard anything recently (since July) about the Scrivener version for Windows? I know the Beta version has been up for a while, but the complete version was first supposed to be for sale back in May, then June, then July, and now I can't find anything that's been updated after that on the website, and no one there is answering email.

Help?

I think Elena may be in training for this... She's already figured out how to get up on my computer desk.

Because I'm going to bed after I write this [g].

Two things make a post:

1) One, Repeating History is up on the Barnes and Noble website! (as part of being in the Smashwords premium catalog -- I assume it's up on Apple's catalog, too, and several others I can't remember offhand, but I can't find it in Sony's catalog yet) So, if you've got a Nook and are averse to buying directly from Smashwords, here's the link.

2) Is it possible to suddenly become allergic to new cats after a lifetime of living with them? I don't know if this is still the slight sinus infection I came down with after the cold I caught in Yosemite (which I thought I was over), or if the cats -- or some allergen the cats picked up in the pound like what they washed them with or something -- are doing this to me. I've still got the sort of feeling like I may have a fever even though I don't, and the lump in my throat kind of cough that feels like sinus drainage. But I don't feel like my head's full of cotton like I normally do with a sinus infection.

Is there anything short of biting the bullet and going to the doctor (which I'd feel really, really stupid about doing for something like this, to the point that I'd rather live with it, thxmch) that will allow me to tell? Yeah, I'm being stubborn again. I don't want to be told I'm allergic to the two fur people who just spent the evening sound asleep on my lap, unperturbed at me shouting at the television when my Seahawks did good tonight (20-3 over the Raiders, in their last preseason game).
