okay, this is driving me mad
Aug. 19th, 2010 12:28 pmI've had my boys (see icon) for seventeen years, since they were six weeks old. We've had our ups and downs, and there are a couple of things I'd have changed (Morgan, my white cat, drools when he's happy, which I really could do without altogether), but on the whole, I love my guys dearly.
The problem is, my orange cat, Linnet, has developed a Habit I Cannot Live With over the last week or so. This time of year, sunrise comes at what to me as a night owl is the middle of the night (around six in the morning). At first light, Linnet has started coming to my bedroom door and letting out his, "oh, my god, I'm at the vet and they're doing dire things to me" yowl. Repeatedly. This shocks me out of sleep, and it takes me the better part of an hour or so to get back to sleep, at best.
The way my condo is set up, there is no way to keep him away from my bedroom door at night (I tried a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs, but he just leaps it, something I didn't think he was capable of anymore since he was bit in the hindquarters by a coyote several years ago, which is why I tried it in the first place). I have never been able to sleep with the guys in my room with me (bed hockey at three in the morning not being my thing), and this has never been a problem before. Besides, when I get up and open the door, he runs back down the stairs instead of coming in.
I'm about to commit felinicide.
Someone out there has a solution, I know it. I'm one of those people who simply never could function without eight hours, and going to bed earlier isn't an option, either.
Help?
