the Queen's birthday at Fort Nisqually
May. 28th, 2009 03:54 pmWas a historical reenactment event that I went to a couple of weeks ago. I meant to post photos before now, honestly,
kk1raven.
Anyway, it was great fun. I did not realize cannon fire was that loud, but the muskets managed to make a great deal of noise, too. The children in historical costume, playing historical games and with historical toys, were adorable, but I really liked the flintknapper and the minstrel as well.
Photos behind the cut .

Ladies with their spinning wheels

Teenagers playing Pall Mall (the historical name for croquet) -- one young lady was absolutely creaming the competition.

The minstrel in his straw top hat.

Planting the garden. In long skirts, no less (it is the 1850s, after all).

The flintknapper/fur trader.

Playing miniature tenpins.

Firing the muskets in the queen's honor.
