690 words today. To the end of Chapter 8, and into Chapter 9.

And over 30,000 words!
mmegaera: (Default)

809 words.

Almost to the end of Chapter 8. That 25% looks very satisfying [g].

Still on target to finish the draft by the end of February. Of course the exhibit I'm working on is supposed to open the middle of March, so that ought to be interesting...

There. Back in the saddle again. Although with my back the way it is right now, a saddle sounds downright painful [sigh].

1047 words.

This event horizon appears to be a harder nut to crack than I thought it would be. But that's okay. We'll get there.

320 words.

It hasn't helped that I did something to my back a couple of weeks ago, and it's taking bloody forever for it to get well, either.

So, as it turns out, one of Ivan's favorite napping places has become the basket I use for corraling various things on their way in and out of the house on the sofa table next to the front door.

I happened to walk past it this afternoon, and this is what I saw:

One of Teddy's is a bit more expected -- the loveseat. Which he manages to stretch himself to cover pretty much all of:

For the current WIP, pretty please.

It's 1983. I need the name of a very popular heavy metal band. The more disreputable the better. It would also be lovely to know what one of their concert t-shirts looked like, and what sort of shorts someone would be likely to wear with it.

I quit listening to popular music in the late 70s, and never was into heavy metal myself, so I'm at something of a loss. It's going to be worn by someone who also is clueless on the subject (he's four), so I'm not going to get the rest of it wrong, fortunately.

Help?

Thanks!

533 words.

Not great, but okay.

836 words today, and the end of Chapter 7.

Any couple, gay or straight, can now get married in Washington state.

What a civilized place I live in!

And congrats, Mainers and Marylanders, too.
mmegaera: (Default)
Okay. It's done. And I can let out a huge sigh of relief.

Hallefrickenlujah.

Four more years!

Oh, and 526 words today [g].

mmegaera: (Default)

Wow. That's cool. 25000 words even so far [g]. And, no, I didn't do that on purpose.

Today's words 779. Not bad.

Back's getting better, too. Sloooowwwlly...

Oh, and I've figured out how to block this porn without blocking all hotmail addresses, so that's something, I guess.
mmegaera: (Default)
If you wish to communicate with me via email, you will have to use something other than a Hotmail address.

Everything coming to my email account with a Hotmail address is being automatically deleted for the forseeable future.

I am damned tired of the porn coming to me via Hotmail addresses.

If you wish to communicate with me via a Hotmail address, you will have to get Hotmail to deal with their porn problem first, and prove to me that the problem has been fixed.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

All of a sudden I'm getting pornographic emails -- some of them attempting to fake being from some of my mailing lists, and some just showing up on their own recognizance. At least half a dozen in the last three days.

This wouldn't be such a big deal, except they've got pictures, which has never happened before, at least not to me.

It's disgusting. How do I get my ISP's supposedly super-fantastic spam filter (which has always blocked this sort of nasty stuff before) to do its bloody job?!?!
mmegaera: (Default)
And one of them has me bouncing off the ceiling. I received my very first review in a newspaper today!!! In the Tacoma Weekly.

And it's a really good review -- the headline calls it "gripping" and the reviewer describes Karin's adventures as "struggles in a “man’s world” with a strength that can best be described as Norwegian girl power."

"The details of this romance-and-adventure story prove the historical research paid off and paint a word picture so vivid that readers can see the story play out in their minds as they endure the stares of the prospectors or the chill of the Klondike air through Myre’s telling of her tale."

What more could I ask for???

Oh, and only 358 words today, but that's okay. Only [g]. When I was writing Repeating History I'd have thought that a good day. James has me spoiled. I've hit an event horizon, though, so I need to do some plotting work over the weekend before I move on.

[beam] He liked it, he really liked it! [/beam]

I did NaNoWriMo in 2010, and in 2011, and made my 50,000 words both years. Last year's NaNo book, in fact, became the first draft of the beginning of True Gold.

But this year I'm not doing NaNo, because I can't meet the requirements without stopping James's story 20,000 words in and starting something completely new. Which would be insane.

So I'm just going to keep plugging away at James, with a personal deadline of February 28, 2013 to reach the end of the first draft, and a daily goal of at least 750 but hopefully closer to 1000 words, five days a week.

But I will enjoy the energy and enthusiasm for the month. Just you watch [g].

At least in part. 1017 words.

Well into Chapter 7, with a very difficult letter to write.

The migraine's gone, but my back still hurts some, esp. when I first get up in the morning.

This is the sort of thing that makes my little writer's heart happy.

Thank you, [dreamwidth.com profile] hedda62! You made my day!

Well, yay. Converse All-Stars weren't invented until 1908, and did not achieve an appearance we would recognize now until the 1920s.

This is good. But what's really cool?

One of their nicknames is "Chucks" for the man who developed them.

I am charmed. Serendipity strikes again!

939 words today.

And I have reached the end of Chapter 6.
