question of the day
Dec. 29th, 2007 09:37 pmHow can you tell when a cat is stoned?
The question does have some relevance at the moment. As I reported the other day, Linnet had a couple of abscessed teeth removed day before yesterday, and a thorough cleaning of the rest of them. He's doing quite well now, considering, but the vet gave me what has turned out to be the cat equivalent of Oxycontin for him (one ml from a syringe to go under his tongue twice a day -- six doses, so the last one will be Monday morning), and while it's not easy to tell when this cat is stoned, it's quite obvious if you know what to look for.
I shouldn't be laughing at this. But it is rather priceless. Linnet has never, ever been so extravagantly affectionate before in his entire life. It's really sweet.
At least he's not hurting. And he's eating -- not much, but more than I expected him to -- in spite of it all. I hope he'll be able to eat less painfully in future because of this. And that I'll get to keep him more years than I would have otherwise. Since he's fourteen, that's become a worry.
Vet again in two weeks to make sure the stitches are dissolving on schedule, and hopefully things will be back to normal.
I can't wait for Morgan to quit hissing and running away from him because he smells funny.
