Thank you for this! I've bookmarked it and will re-read every so often to remind myself. I was already aware of most of the specific historical incidents mentioned, but the llama analogy adds that special memorable touch. It also addresses a number of things that annoy me, including the modification of nouns to specify a woman's participation. Sports teams, soldiers, CEOs--I've noticed how they get qualified with 'woman' or 'female'. Other than nurses, I don't think I've ever seen that done for men.

Yes, it wasn't that the message was new, it was the way it was framed. New and better analogies are a good thing.
