soup of the evening, beautiful soup

mmegaeraI always forget how much I love homemade soup on a brisk day. It's one of my favorite things about fall. Even better since I made it yesterday and all I had to do tonight when I straggled home after a long day of playing detective with the accession records (long story, but suffice to say I have artifacts with no accession records, artifacts with multiple accession records, and accession records with no artifacts [wry g])), was heat it up and scarf it down.
Leek and potato soup, eaten as a side dish last night and as a main dish (with added chopped ham) tonight. Yum.
If only potatoes didn't develop that icky grainy texture when frozen and thawed (I wish I knew how OreIda keeps them from doing that), I'd add this to my freezer repertoire. As it is, I'll just be eating leek and potato soup most of this week [g].
