well, that was an auspicious start to my first day on my second gig

Not.

First, I tripped over the curb in front of the Society's building, and landed flat on my face. Well, not on my face, but first my knees, then my stomach and hands. I scraped a fair amount of skin off my left knee and roughed up my right knee and hands pretty good, but at least I didn't tear my jeans [wry g].

Then I barely managed to get the security alarm disarmed on about my fourth try.

Sigh.

Things went much better after that, fortunately.

The results of my photograph reconnaissance:

I lost count of exactly how many photographs there are (a final exact count will have to wait till they're all cataloged). And they're scattered everywhere, in boxes and albums and crates. Real glass plate negatives. Film negatives. Slides. Prints of at least three types. Antique postcards. I filled two cupboards and those are just the ones that weren't mixed in with other stuff, which I noted and then left in situ because of the documentation issue (I will pull those as I catalog them). I knew what I was getting into, really I did, and I know I'm going to have plenty of volunteer help, but -- holy cow. This is going to be an amazing six months (and I hope I can get it all done by then -- although there are allowances for extending the contract if I don't). I'm to meet again with Jeff (the board president) tomorrow morning again and I have a list of questions and what I'm going to need (information as well as the supply list that they asked for) that's as long as my arm . Holy cow. It was absolutely amazing. Like Christmas.

All in all, quite a day. My knee still stings, though [wry g].
