At last

I can haz antibiotics!

After a rather extensive email conversation with my primary care physician (not the doctor who saw me in the afterhours clinic last week, who said practically first thing, "I'm not going to give you antibiotics for this"), she phoned in a prescription for the antibiotic I was given the last time I caught a sinus infection. I took the first horse pill this afternoon.

Maybe in a few days I'll finally quit coughing and the wad of cotton inside my skull will go away!

I like Group Health for a lot of reasons, but I'm not fond of this business of "if you need to see someone within a week you'll get J. Random M.D." Which causes a lot of reinventing the wheel because they inevitably don't have time to read my records -- my PCP does agree, however, that I have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that sinus infections don't go away for me without antibiotics (according to my records, this is the fifth time this has happened in the last ten years).

Oh, and I can't take Flonase. Add it to the list of "keeps me awake for 24 hours per daily dose," with a side order of "causes rather extreme nausea."

I do understand why doctors are stingy with antibiotics these days, I really do. But they're necessary for some things. Honest.
