I sympathize. I really do. It must be horrible to realize that you've gotten to the point where getting behind the wheel is unsafe for you and others. To lose that enormous chunk of your independence, and have to depend on others for such a basic thing as transportation must be awful, especially in most of the U.S. where public transportation is such a poor substitute because of its lack and inconvenience. I dread the day when it happens to me.
But my sympathy stops when it's my safety that's at risk because you're in denial.
Fortunately, you did not do any damage to yourselves, your car, me, or my car. This time. You scared the crap out of all of us, though. And it was really obvious that the reason for this accident was because you're well past the age/infirmity level where you needed to stop driving.
I sure hope you realize that before you really hurt someone, including yourself.
