Computer and printer/copier (not scanner anymore [sigh] is back from the computer doctor. Apparently it's the machine itself, not the driver or the software or anything else -- he reinstalled the software and checked for device incompatibilities and the whole nine yards.

I am in "it's the principle of the thing" digging in my heels mode at the moment. Yes, the thing is four years old, but it still prints and photocopies without hesitation, and I've only used the scanner function maybe half a dozen times total, and I am resenting the fact that it refuses to work as a scanner anymore, just on general principles.

So, what are my options for digitizing paper photos other than replacing the whole thing or buying a dedicated scanner? SOL? That's what I figured. I tried photographing the photographs with my digital camera and the results are, shall we say, less than satisfactory. Any suggestions as to how to make that method work better would be appreciated. If you're laughing at me I'd rather not know, thanks.
