I've probably done this one before, but I'll do it again. On the Bujold email list, a very nice British gentleman named James Bryant likes to play with words. He took my name and decided it was short for Megaera, the Brit spelling for one of the Greek furies. It isn't, of course (I'm a Margaret, but my mother is the only one who uses that version), but I'm rather mild-mannered, all in all, and the irony tickled me. I've used Megaera on the list ever since. When I joined LJ about five years ago, it was because a great many of the Bujold listees were here. It was natural to use megaera as my moniker. But someone had beat me to the version with just one M. I am an M. Meg, so I just added another M. And so I am mmegaera.
