mmegaera: (OF in winter)
Am I the only person on the planet who thinks it's rude when you're having a conversation with someone online (LJ or email or whatever) and it hasn't reached its natural conclusion (as in questions are still being asked and answered, either way) and this person just drops off the face of the earth and doesn't at least say one sentence about ending the conversation for whatever reason?

Or that it's rude when a professional connection (as in an agreement has been made for an exchange of good/services/money, but they haven't been exchanged yet) simply drops off the face of the earth in the same way? Or when one has to badger said professional connection to even respond at all? Does no response mean go away, I'm reneging, or what?

Am I just being anal or is there some sort of online lack of etiquette that everyone else knows about and accepts that I don't know about?

No, I'm deliberately not being specific nor am I ever going to name names. I'm baffled, not being accusative, and I'd really like an honest answer to this (not from anyone who thinks this might be about them about the specific situation, but a generally applicable honest answer), preferably coupled with a way to find out in advance if someone's going to be like this so that I don't get myself into situations where I'm dealing with this sort anymore.

ETA: I'm not talking about short-term "live" chatting back and forth, I'm talking about a conversation taking place over email or LJ that may last several days, with one or two emails on either side per day.
