an addendum to my earlier "poll"
Apr. 28th, 2009 10:35 amSo, I wonder if barter is a reasonable option for getting help in making a website (I'm not asking to barter now, I'm just exploring the possibility). The person I'd barter with would have to be local to me in western Washington, since I don't think online would work well for instruction. And I have no clue as to where I'd post to find such a person. The Tacoma LJ community is all but moribund, and the Seattle LJ community folks are a bit far north for me. And I'd want to see examples of their work since I'd be "paying" for it.
The main skills I have that might be of interest to anyone are either librarianing (as a friend puts it), but I don't know that it would be of much use to an individual unless that individual would like some research done, which is a possibility, and quilting -- I would be willing to trade a handmade quilt for a professional-looking website plus being taught the skills to update it myself. Is that an uneven trade, either way? It can take me months to make a quilt, depending on how complicated it is and how much handwork I put into it (I would be willing to let the recipient choose the colors, but s/he would have to choose from several designs that I provide, not from just anything). If anyone wants to see examples of my work, they're at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mmegaera/sets/72157594510763533/.
Any thoughts on this possibility?
