RIP RRA-L

Sad, sad news. One of the most venerable listservs I know of, one of the best listservs I know of, is coming to an end on August 10. The two moderators, who have run it for over a decade and a half, have finally decided to call it quits. Since RRA-L is housed on a university server where one of them works, access will no longer be available.

RRA-L (Romance Readers Anonymous) is one of the most intelligent and interesting lists I have ever subscribed to (coming from a self-proclaimed mailing list junkie, this is saying something). Published authors, excellent reviews, intelligent discussions, this list had it all, and treated it all in a manner that ensured Rosenberg's dictum, "Never apologize for your reading tastes," was respected.

Several of the members are already discussing moving us over to Yahoogroups, although the former moderators won't be involved. I sincerely hope this happens and that perhaps we'll even collect some more members that way.

But things will never be quite the same, and an institution is passing. Thanks to our moderators, and here's hoping the torch passes safely.
