Okay. This has been one *fascinating* week.

1) Six month old car has got something wrong with his idle timing. Took it in on Tuesday. Car dealer insists nothing is wrong, and got all nasty and condescending about it. Must write complaint letter now (sigh).

2) Niece who hasn't talked to me since last spring over family fiasco left a chatty, friendly message on my answering machine last night.

3) Got hit on bigtime by a patron Wednesday night. Nice enough guy, but anyone who's desperate enough to flirt with a captive audience is suspect from the getgo, and it made me darned uncomfortable.

4) Flatted a tire yesterday on a nail big enough to be a railroad spike (I saw it after the tire place removed it) and wound up waiting for an hour and a half in 35 degree temps for AAA to come and put the doughnut on so I could get to the tire place -- I know how to change a tire, but unfortunately my shoulder won't let me at the moment.

5) I just found out last night that my dear friend Loralee is suddenly having to have her gall bladder out a week from today. It's a long story, and I'm a heck of a lot more concerned about her than I am about me at this stage, but even though she thinks she's going to be able to get me to my surgery the following week the way we'd planned, I Don't Think So. And I don't have anyone else local I can ask to help. So gods know what's going to happen now.

and

6) What the *heck* has happened to the Internet this week??? First Yahoogroups bounces me and it takes a day and a half to get it up and running again. Then I start getting all kinds of two week old notification messages from LiveJournal for messages I replied to ages ago. Then my email starts coming in *way* out of order -- as in messages from three days ago coming in after messages from three hours ago. *Then* aol (the ISP of my beta reader) decides it hates my ISP, and bounces her critique of Chapter 19. She gets it through on the second send, but then aol decides that it won't take *any* messages from anyone with a nwlink address. I get on chat with nwlink, and they know about it, but just drop from chat when I try to find out more. So I went and created a yahoo mail account, and sent my beta reader a test message, and we'll hope she gets that and we can start corresponding again till this mess is resolved.

Sigh.

I want my equilibrium back.
