admitting ignorance, not a first

Not to sound stupid, but I'm still new to this blogging thing, and the one thing I'm really having trouble with is keeping up with who has typed something at me. I have email notification, but I get that at home (and that's not really changeable), and I don't get on LJ at home a) because of my abysmal connection there, and b) because that's not where I need the timesink to be (g).

Anyone have any advice?

Anyone willing to forgive me for not answering a message they may have sent to me that I've lost in the ether?

Thanks to my absolutely wonderful Beta reader and sounding board, Charley the obstreperous character might actually permit me to start finishing his book now. Don't misunderstand me, I like the guy, but he's sort of taken over my life.

And I get to introduce a historical personage who has fascinated/annoyed me for some time after all. Didn't think he'd have a place, but anyone with a name like Philetus W. Norris, who insists on naming *everything* after himself, deserves a spot somewhere...

Now if I can just carve some time out to get the outline in order.
