I won't get into the gory details, but after a three-ring circus with the HMO involving being shuffled off to the wrong surgeon by the schedulers, said wrong surgeon prescribing me a drug (Tramadol) that made me drunker (and more nauseated) after one pill than I'd ever been before, even back in my misspent youth (with no warning whatsoever from either the surgeon or the pharmacist who I asked point blank ("you might get a bit drowsy") that what happened when I took it is a common side effect and *no* warning that the stuff is potentially very addictive -- and, no, I'm never getting a prescription filled without reading about it first ever ever again, okay?), I now have an appointment with the surgeon I was supposed to have had the appointment with originally, and it looks like I'm going to have the surgery either Dec. 23rd or 30th. Which is good because it's before next year's humungus deductible kicks in.

Merry Christmas to me (g). I've come up with some pretty creative excuses before to get out of going to California for Christmas, but even I admit that this is going just a bit too far...
